This is full of bullshit. Even 32 GB RAM can’t play latest games in high settings. If you want low performance, 8GB is OK. But for gamers, low performance is killing the game.

Game like cities skyline want ram.. I have 8gb and wen i load some extra content my 8gb are full loaded and i got 7 more gb in my swap. For this kind of game 16gb is a minimum.

even if it says neck and neck performance, i suppose the 16 GB RAM can be used for 4-5 years from now, and the older one (requiring updates) will propbably need to face these articles again, but it depends. I my opinion if you want to buy a gaming laptop, and have the budget, buy the ones with 16 GB RAM, but if you are satisfied with good quality gaming and other tasks, it would be okay to have a 8 GB on your Desktop and update it accordingly to system requirements.

Overall 8Gb is more than enough, but some games are particulary “ram hungry”. If you want to play those certain games smooth you’ll probably need 16Gb of RAM. In any case, if you have 8Gb of a decent RAM, upgrading to 16Gb should be one of the latest priorities.
