Basically you're trying to link to a hypothetical place where the file WILL be, which is on your own computer. When they try to grab the ip with their lazy tools for low-paid, under-educated workers who don't know better and are basically data entry clerks, they get this spaghetti response. This means that if you have that tool installed and you click on a link like this https://127.0.0.1:4001/some_hash then some_hash will be transferred to the locally running pirating tool through that socket. Now if the hash is something like a torrent magnet link or similar then that is enough to initiate a download. I have to admit that I don't know if such a tool actually exists. I just saw it mentioned elsewhere in response to this story. On the other hand I know that it is definitely possible for it to look like that. Why would it be designed like that? Possibly to hide since you would need a tool installed locally for the links to work. To all others, the links just look broken and maybe a bit silly.
